Theloderma pyaukkya Dever, 2017, J. Herpetol., 51: 430. Holotype: CAS 236133, by original designation. Type locality: "Lwe Aein Stream, Intawgyi Wildlife Sanctuary, Hepu Village, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, Myanmar; 25.055318N, 96.24225 8E, elevation 266 m."

Known only from Chin state (see comment) in western Myanmar and Kachin state in the northern Myanmar as well as Yingjiang County, western Yunnan, China.

The sister taxon of Theloderma albopunctatum according to the original publication. Also noted in the original publication is a 5% sequence divergence between the northern and western populations. Du, Liu, Hou, and Yu, 2020, Zool. Res., Kunming, 41: 576–580, provided a record from Nabang township, Yingjiang County, western Yunnan, China, discussed morphology and the molecular confirmation of identification and suggested that the Chin state, Myanmar, record requires further examination. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 46, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
