See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 542. Taylor, Bunbury, Chong-Seng, Doak, Kundu, Griffiths, and Groombridge, 2012, Conserv. Genetics, 13: 557-566, reported the Praslin I. population for the first time and suggested that substantial genetic differences are apparent between the Praslin, Sihouette, and Mahé Island populations suggestive of different lineages. Gerlach, 2015, Phelsuma, 23: 6–18, reported on advertisement call. Labisko, Griffiths, Chong-Seng, Bunbury, Maddock, Bradfield, Taylor, and Groombridge, 2019, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 126: 417–435, regarded the Praslin, Sihouette, and Mahé Island populations as genetically differentiated candidate species.
