Telmatobius Hauthali Koslowsky, 1895, Rev. Mus. La Plata, 6: 359. Syntypes: Deposition not mentioned but presumably originally in the MLP; MLP 058-059 considered to be "cotypes" [=syntypes in this case] by Vellard, 1946, Acta Zool. Lilloana, 3: 319; FML 03264/9 designated neotype by Laurent and Lavilla, 1986, Cuad. Herpetol., 2: 3. Type locality: "la cordilleras de Catamarca en el arroyo 'Aguas Calientes' (4000 metros altura) en las inmediaciones de Cazadero Grande", Catamarca, Argentina; neotype from "Arroyo Aguas Calientes, 27° 14′ S—68° 16′ W, Tinogasta, Catamarca, Argentina".

Distribution

Known only from the thermal spring of the type locality in Catamarca Province, northwestern Argentina, 4020 m elevation.
