Telmatobius niger Barbour and Noble, 1920, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 63: 413. Holotype: MCZ 3037, by original designation. Type locality: "Palmira desert, Ecuador"; corrected to vicinity of Palmira, Chimborazo Province [Ecuador] by Schmidt, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 34: 282.

Telmatobius cinereus Noble, 1921, Am. Mus. Novit., 29: 6. Holotype: AMNH 13968, by original designation. Type locality: "Bestion, Ecuador". At an elevation of 10,105 feet, according to Peters, 1955, Rev. Ecuat. Entomol. Parsitol., 2: 336. Synonymy by Trueb, 1979, Copeia, 1979: 714-733.

Distribution

Both slopes of Ecuadorian Andes from the Cuenca Basin (Provincia Azuay) to Juan Benigno Vela, Tungurahua Province, 2496-4000 m elevation.
