Comment

The taxonomic status of this population is confusing. Laurent, 1977, Acta Zool. Lilloana, 32: 196, named it as an allopatric subspecies of Telmatobius hauthali. Subsequently, Cei, 1987, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Suppl., 21: 235, referred to Telmatobius hauthali pisanoi as "in reality, a still unnamed species" (even though the population does have a name), implying that he regarded Telmatobius pisanoi as a distinct species. Lavilla and Barrionuevo, 2005, in Lavilla and De la Riva (eds.), Monogr. Herpetol., 7: 131, provided an account. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 417. In the Telmatobius bolivianus group of Barrionuevo, 2017, Cladistics, 33: 41–68.
