Distribution

Known only from the type locality in an isolated cloud forest in Cerro Guachmalén (an isolated mountain ridge between Sierra de los Cuchumatanes and Sierra de Yalijux), Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, 1862 m elevation.

In the Bolitoglossa franklini group according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 764, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
