Oedipina alleni Taylor, 1954, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 36: 607. Holotype: KU 34926, by original designation. Type locality: "Palmar [Norte, Cantón de Osa], Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica". Savage, 1974, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 22: 101, commented on the type locality.

Removed from the synonymy of Oedipina parvipes by Good and Wake, 1997, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 45: 1185-1208, where it had been placed by Brame, 1968, J. Herpetol., 2: 10. See account by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 149. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 82–90, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph.
