Tylototriton umphangensis Pomchote, Peerachidacho, Hernandez, Sapewisut, Khonsue, Thammachoti, and Nishikawa, 2021, ZooKeys, 1072: 94. Holotype: CUMZ-A-8243, by original designation. Type locality: "Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary, Tak Province, western Thailand, approximate coordinate 16˚12’ N, 98˚58’ E; ca 1,150 m a.m.s.l."

Distribution

Restricted to evergreen hill forests in Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary, Tak Province, western Thailand. 1150 m elevation; probably present in adjacent Myanmar.

Comment

The sister taxon of Tylototriton uyenoi, with which it has previously been confused, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology and molecular markers were discussed. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 315–315, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
