Pristimantis aquilonaris Lehr, Aguilar, Siu-Ting, and Jordán, 2007, Herpetologica, 63: 522. Holotype: MUSM 19942, by original designation. Type locality: "Alto Samaniego (05° 06′ 43.1″ S, 79° 21′ 25.7″ W) at 2200 m . . . Distrito de Carmen de la Frontera, Provincia de Huancabamba, Departamento de Piura, Peru".

Distribution

Northern Departamento de Piura, Peru, in montane forests at elevations of 2000–2500 m, north to Morona Santiago (Puchimi) and Zamora Chinchipe (Chito, Tapichalaca Resrve, and Podocarpus National Park), Ecuador.

In the Pristimantis unistrigatus group according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. J. Linn. Soc.: 1–40, provided records for Ecuador and placed this species in their Pristimantis trachyblepharis group.
