Type locality: "Yasuni Scientific Research Station, Universidad Catolica del Ecuador (76° 24′ 19″ W, 00° 40′ 32″ S; altitude 230 m), Provincia de Orellana, Ecuador".

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, Eleutherodactylus lacrimosus assemblage, according to the original publication.
