Pristimantis jaguensis Rivera-Prieto, Rivera-Correa, and Daza-R., 2014, Zootaxa, 3900: 225. Holotype. MHUA-A 7239, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Antioquia, Municipio de Alejandría, Vereda El Respaldo, Sector Arenosas, vicinity of Embalse de San Lorenzo (6° 23′ 19.3554″ N, 75° 1′ 24.0594″ W; 1150 m a.s.l.)".

Known only from (1) Vereda El Jagüe, Municipio de San Rafael, 1018 m; (2) Vereda El Respaldo, Municipio de Alejandría, 1150 m; (3) Vereda El Retiro, Municipio de Anorí, 1620 m; (4) Vereda El Rosario, Municipio de Yarumal, 1560 m; and (5) Vereda San Fermín, Municipio de Valdivia, 1860 m, Antioquia, Colombia.

Unnassigned to species group according to the original publication. Rivera-Correa, Correa-Medina, Venegas-Valencia, and Daza-R., 2022, Herpetol. Notes, 15: 215–227, reported on the geographic and ecological distribution, its advertisement call, and high genetic diversity.
