Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Caldas: Municipio de Samaná, correigimiento de Florencia, El Estadero, ca. 6 km SW Florencia, 1850-1950 m.s.n.m.".

Cloud forest at 1800–2650 m in the municipalities of Pensilvania and Samaná, Department of Caldas, and municipality of Guatepé, Antioquia, on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Central, Colombia.

Comment

Likely related to Eleutherodactylus caryophyllaceus according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127.
