Eleutherodactylus moro Savage, 1965, Bull. S. California Acad. Sci., 64: 106. Holotype: CRE 765 (now transferred to LACM), by original designation. Type locality: "Costa Rica: Provincia de San José: Canton de Coronado: La Hondura, 1245 meters (4085 feet)". Savage, 1974, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 22: 92-93, commented on the type locality.

Eleutherodactylus lehmanvalenciae Thornton, 1965, Copeia, 1965: 425. Holotype: USNM 151399, by original designation. Type locality: "approximately 5 miles upstream from the mouth of the Raposo River and approximately 20 miles south of Buenaventura, Departament of Valle, Colombia". Synonymy by Savage, 1968, Copeia, 1968: 878-879.

Premontane zone of Atlantic slope central Costa Rica and Pacific versant central Panama to lowland western Colombia, 550 to 1245 m elevation.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 228. The original publication placed it in the less inclusive Eleutherodactylus diastema group, with Eleutherodactylus diastema, Eleutherodactylus hylaeformis, and Eleutherodactylus vocator. Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 268–269, provided an account and placed this species in his Eleutherodactylus martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus cruentus group. In the Pristimantis (Hypodictyon) ridens species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 114, and in the Pristimantis ridens species group of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 126. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 140–191, provided a key to the genera and species of Brachycephaloidea (= Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae) in Central America and provided maps and photographs of the species, including this one. Hertz, Lotzkat, Stadler, Hamad, Carrizo, and Köhler, 2011, Herpetol. Rev., 42: 248, reported the species from Alto de Piedra, Veraguas Province, Panama. Flores, Page, Aparicio, and Bordones, 2019, Herpetol. Rev., 50: 98, discussed the range and provided a record from Santa Fe district, Veraguas Province, Panama.
