Comment

In the Phrynopus flavomaculatus group according to the original publication. The species name is a noun in apposition, according to the original publication. Lehr, 2005, Herpetologica, 61: 204, noted that this taxon is actually a member of the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) nigrovittatus group. Heinicke, Duellman, and Hedges, 2007, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 104: 10092-10097, removed this species from nominal Eleutherodactylus but did not provide a new generic name; see comment under Hypodactylus.
