Pristimantis samaniegoi Székely, Eguiguren, Ordóñez-Delgado, Armijos-Ojeda, and Székely, 2020, PLoS One, 15(9: e0238306): 21. Holotype: MUTPL 357, by original designation. Type locality: "Ecuador, Loja Province, Cajanuma entrance to the Parque Nacional Podocarpus, on Los Miradores trail (4.1151° S, 79.1651° W; datum WGS84), 3258 m above sea level".

English Names

Samaniego's Rain Frog (original publication). 


Known only from the Cajanuma entrance to the Parque Nacional Podocarpus, 3258 m elevation, Loja Province, and from about 13 km in the north, 2817 m elevation, in Abra de Zamora, Zamora Province, Ecuador. 


In the Pristimantis orestes species group, according to the original publication, which beyond summarizing morphology and coloration also provided the advertisement call and information on natural history.
