Pristimantis yantzaza Valencia, Dueñas, Székely, Batallas-Revelo, and Pulluquitín, 2017, Zootaxa, 4353: 451. Holotype: FHGO 9962, by original designation. Type locality: "La Zarza, Los Encuentros, Yantzaza, (3°46ʼ36” S, 78°29ʼ47” W, 1478 m elevation), Zamora Chinchipe province, Republic of Ecuador".

Known only from five localities in the province of Zamora Chinchipe, Ecuador, all in the Cordillera del Condor (La Zarza, Colibrí, Mirador, and Las Peñas), (Cerro Plateado), in evergreen montane forest at 1200 to 1800 m elevation.
