Comment

See brief account (as Rana barmoachensis) by Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 89. Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 339, considered (on the basis of examination of the holotype) this taxon to be synonymous with Nanorana hazarensis (as Paa), but subsequent authors (e.g., Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 89; Khan, 2004, Bull. Chicago Herpetol. Soc., 39: 45–47) have regarded the two as distinct. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 173, noted that Indian records are lacking. Khan, 2006, Amph. Rept. Pakistan: 62–63, provided an account for Pakistan. Ohler and Dubois, 2006, Zoosystema, 28: 780, reiterated that having looked at the type of Rana barmoachensis they believe it to be conspecific with Allopaa hazarensis; unfortunately, the diagnostic differences noted by Khan in the original publication have yet to be addressed in publication. Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted one brief larval description in the literature (as Nanorana barmoachensis). Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Gururaja, and Bhatta, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 302: 11, noted the species to occur in Kashmir, India, but did not provide specific localities. Rais, Ahmed, Sajjad, Akram, Saeed, Hamid, and Abid, 2021, ZooKeys, 1062: 157–175, included this species in an identification key to the amphibian species of Pakistan as well as providing a photograph.
