Holotype: MNHN-RA-2020.0001, by original designation. Type locality: "Alikene, French Guiana (—3.20906°, —52.402000°)".

Distribution

Throughout the eastern Guiana Shield in French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, and adjacent Brazilian Amazonia in the states of Amapá, Pará, and possibly into adjacent Roraima and Amazonas.

Comment

Confused with Boana fasciatus prior to its naming according to the original publication, where the morphology, advertisement call, and molecular phylogenetic relations within the Boana albopunctata group, Boana steinbachi clade, were detailed. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 128–129, provided a brief account and photo (as Hyla fasciata) in French Guiana. Taucce, Costa-Campos, Carvalho, and Michalski, 2022, Eur. J. Taxon., 836: 96–130, reported on distribution, literature, and conservation status for Amapá, Brazil.
