Distribution

Ecuadorian (Provincia Napo), Peruvian (Región Loreto), and Colombian (Amazonas: Municipality of Puerto Nariño) Amazon Basin from 180 to 420 m elevations.

Natural Resident: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru

Comment

In the Hypsiboas calcaratus complex and differentiable from Hypsiboas alfaroi only by genetic markers or call according to the original publication. Acosta-Galvis, Lasso, and Morales-Betancourt, 2018, Check List, 14: 549–554, provided and discussed the Colombia records. Rainha, Martinez, Moraes, Castro, Réjaud, Fouquet, Leite, Rodrigues, and Werneck, 2021, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 134: 177–197, included this species in their Boana steinbachi clade and discussed phylogenetics and the influence of subtle environmental factors on geographic variation in morphology.
