Comment

Guarnizo, Escallón, Cannatella, and Amézquita, 2012, Herpetologica, 68: 523, suggested that this is likely a synonym of Dendropsophus meridensis, but refrained from making the synonymy pending study of calls and additional molecular data. In the Dendropsophus labialis group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 91. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 74, for comments on range, systematics, and literature (as Dendropsophus meridensis). Mijares-Urrutia, 1998, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 46: 119–143, described and illustrated the larva.
