Distribution

Known only from lowlands in the region of the type locality (Município de Seropédica, 22° 44′ S, 43° 42′ W, Rio de Janeiro) northeast to the vicinity of the town of Mimoso do Sul, southern Espíritu Santo, as well as north and west into Minas Gerais, Brazil. 

Comment

In the Hyla microcephala group, close to Hyla meridiana, according to the original publication. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 52, provided a brief account and photo. In the Dendropsophus microcephalus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 91-92. Silva, Carvalho-e-Silva, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2008, Check List, 4: 15-17, provided a distribution map and the record for the state of Espíritu Santo, Brazil. Caram, Luna-Dias, Hepp, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2014, Zootaxa, 3784: 294–296, reported on the advertisement call. Pereira Silva, Neves, Hote, Santana, and Feio, 2016, Check List, 12(5: 1977): 1–13, provided a record for the municipality of Barão de Monte Alto, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, and mapped the known range. Rosado, Assis, Dias, Guedes, and Feio, 2019, Herpetol. Notes, 12: 637–641, provided new records from southeastern Brazil, a dot map of the range, and acoustic data.
