Phyllodytes magnus Dias, Novaes-e-Fagundes, Mollo, Zina, Garcia, Recoder, Vechio, Rodrigues, and Solé, 2020, PeerJ, 8(e8642): 6. Holotype: MZUESC 18264, by original designation. Type locality: "in a terrestrial bromeliad, . . . at Serra da Jibóia (12°52′19.08″S, 39°28′53.90″W; 490 m a.s.l.; WGS84), between the municipalities of Santa Terezinha and Elísio Medrado, State of Bahia, Brazil". Distribution

Known definitely from four municipalities in the Atlantic Rainforest of Bahia (Santa Terezinha, Elísio Medrado, Urucuca, Wenceslau Guimarães); calls of this species have also been heard in the municipalities of Almadina, Ilhéus, Igrapiúna and Camacan, also in Bahia, Brazil.
