Mountains of eastern and southeastern Brazil.

Many of the subspecies cited by Lutz, 1973, Brazil. Spec. Hyla: 183–189, and by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 43–44, are recognizable species according to U. Caramaschi IN Frost, 1985, 160.
