Scinax cosenzai Lacerda, Peixoto, and Feio, 2012, Zootaxa, 3271: 32. Holotype: MNRJ 75462, by original designation. Type locality: "Lage das Bromélias, Serra do Brigadeiro (20° 43′13.5″ S and 42° 28′ 48.7″ W; 1385 m above sea level), Municipality of Araponga, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil".

Associated with areas of ground bromeliads (Alcantarea extensa) on rocky outcrops in the Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadero in the northern part of the Montiqueira Mountain Range complex, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.


In the Scinax perpusillus group, most similar to Scinax arduous and Scinax v-signatus according to the original publication, where external adult morphology and vocalization were described. Guimarães, Peixoto, Lacerda, and Feio, 2014, Salamandra, 50: 99–104, reported on larval morphology.
