In the Scinax catharinae clade, Scinax catharinae group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 95-96. Canelas and Bertoluci, 2007, Iheringia, Zool., 97: 21-26, provided a record for the Serra do Caraça, southern end of the Serra do Espinhaço, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 67-68, provided a photograph and brief account. Reis, Araújo, Malleret, Valeri, Garcia, and Svartman, 2020, Herpetol. Notes, 13: 679–683, reported the karyotype.
