Upper Amazon Basin and lower Andean slopes from central Peru to Amazonian Bolivia; between the Tapajós and Xingu rivers, in a band south of the Amazon River, Pará, Brazil. 

Comment

The sister taxon of Osteocephalus according to the original publication.  Ortiz, Moraes, Pavan, and Werneck, 2020, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 70: 357–366, reported on the molecular phylogenetics within the genus and its placement within Lophiohylinae. Blotto, Lyra, Cardoso, Rodrigues, Dias, Marciano, Vechio, Orrico, Brandão, Assis, Lantyer-Silva, Rutherford, Gagliardi-Urrutia, Solé, Baldo, Nunes, Cajade, Torres, Grant, Jungfer, Silva, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2021, Cladistics, 37: 36–72, reported on the molecular phylogenetics of this group as well as its placement within the lophiohylines.
