Phyllodytes edelmoi Peixoto, Caramaschi, and Freire, 2003, Herpetologica, 59: 236. Holotype: MNRJ 24073, by original designation. Type locality: "Mata do Catolé, Municipality of Maceió (09° 30′ S, 35° 40′ W, sea level), State of Alagoas, Brazil".

In the Phyllodytes luteolus group of Caramaschi, Peixoto, and Rodrigues, 2004, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 62: 185–191, and Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 110. Lima, Lingnau, and Skuk, 2008, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 3: 118–121, described the advertisement call. Dubeux, Silva, Nascimento, Gonçalves, and Mott, 2019, Rev.
