The original publication summarized adult and larval morphology as well as advertisement call and molecular markers, all compare with other species of Phasmahyla. Oliveira, Santos, Barros, Leite, Risse-Quaioto, Militão, Fatorelli, Belmoch, Pombal, and Rocha, 2021, Biota Neotrop., 21 (3: e20201085): 1–16, from Serra das Torres Natural Monument, Espírito Santo state, southeastern Brazil.
