Distribution

Isolated localities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, southern Minas Gerais (Santa Rita da Jacutinga and Bom Jardim de Minas), central part of the Serra da Espinhaço in central Minas Gerais (Municipality of Conceição do Mato Dentro), Parque Natural Municipal Augusto Ruschi , São José dos Campo, São Paulo, and south-central Espírito Santo (Municipality of Domingos Martins), Brazil.

In the Scinax staufferi group according to the original publication. In the Scinax ruber clade, unassigned to group, of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 97. Pinto, Campos, Braga, Queirós, and Nascimento, 2009, Check List, 5: 866-868, provided a range extension into southern Minas Gerais, Brazil, and Linares, Batemarque, Mello, and Nascimento, 2011, Check List, 7: 407-408, provided a record from central Minas Gerais, Brazil, and mapped the range. Carvalho, Borges-Martins, and Giaretta, 2015, Phyllomedusa, 14: 127–137, reported on vocalizations. Moroti, Ferreira, Santos, Soares, and Machado, 2017, Check List, 13(1: 2042): 1–3, provided a record for the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and mapped the known distribution of the species. Kirchmeyer, Ruggeri, Gomes, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2019, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 14: 188–195, reported on the larva with special reference to internal oral morphology and on this basis transferred the species to Ololygon. Included in the monotypic Ololygon cardosoi group of Araujo-Vieira, Lourenço, Lacerda, Lyra, Blotto, Ron, Baldo, Pereyra, Suárez-Mayorga, Baêta, Ferreira, Barrio-Amorós, Borteiro, Brandão, Brasileiro, Donnelly, Dubeux, Köhler, Kolenc, Leite, Maciel, Nunes, Orrico, Peloso, Pezzuti, Reichle, Rojas-Runjaic, Silva, Sturaro, Langone, Garcia, Rodrigues, Frost, Wheeler, Grant, Pombal, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2023, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 27 (Special Issue): 56, who provided an extensive revision of the Scinaxini.
