In the Scinax catharinae clade, Scinax catharinae group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 95. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 58, provided a brief account and photo. Tadpoles compared to those of other members of the Scinax catharinae group by Conte, Nomura, Rossa-Feres, d'Heursel, and Haddad, 2007, Amphibia-Reptilia, 28: 177–192. Hepp, Lourenço, and Pombal, 2017, Salamandra, 53: 212–230, reported on acoustic traits (as Scinax humilis).
