Scinax tropicalia Novaes-e-Fagundes, Araujo-Vieira, Entiauspe, Roberto, Orrico, Solé, Haddad, and Loebmann, 2021, Zootaxa, 4903: 4. Holotype: MZUESC 20440, by original designation. Type locality: "campus of the Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC), municipality of Ilhéus, state of Bahia, Brazil (datum WGS84; -14.795694°, -39.172645°, about 30 m above sea level [a.s.l.])". http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:5ABDA0B2-BC31-47E1-A988-CC3307D5FD71 . The species name is a noun in apposition.

Distribution

Disjunct populations in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, 0 to 600 m elevation: (1) southeastern Bahia (Serra da Jibóia south to Serra Bonita) and (2) north-central Ceará (Serra do Baurité and Parque das Trilhas, Guaramiranga).
