Comment

Amiet, 2000, Alytes, 17: 125-164, reviewed and redefined the genus. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, placed Alexteroon well within Hyperolius, militating against the recognition of this taxon, but given the affection these authors demonstrated in this paper for paraphyletic taxa they did not make the taxonomic remedy. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 195–197, reported on comparative tadpole morphology. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 168–169, provided brief accounts, photographs, and range maps for the species.
