Distribution

Central Yunnan to southern Sichuan, southern Guizhou, northern and eastern Guangxi, southern Hunan, and western Jiangxi, montane China, 900 to 2450 m elevation.

Removed from the synonymy of Megophrys carinensis (as Brachytarsophrys carinense) by Li, Zhang, Lyu, Wang, Li, Liu, Chen, Rao, Jin, Zhang, and Wang, 2020, Zool. Res., Kunming: 105–122, who suggested that the nominal subgenera of Megophrys, recognized by Mahony, Foley, Biju, and Teeling, 2017, Mol. Biol. Evol., 34: 744–771, should be reranked as genera. It had been placed in the synonymy of Megophrys carinense by Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 331. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 27-28, provided a brief account (as Brachytarsophrys platyparietus) for Yunnan, China. Yang, 1991, Amph.
