Type locality (translated from the Chinese): a paddy field on 1# Village Group, Chayuan Village, Shuishi Township, Qianjiang District, Chongqing Municipality (29°15′N, 108°41′E); altitude 1000 m, China. The status of this species is unclear. This species not formally addressed in the analysis of Xiao, Luo, Luo, Wei, and Zeng, 2019, Sichuan J. Zool., 38: 616–622, but appear to include topotypes in their analysis as Rana culaiensis. However, these authors also noted that the Chongqing and Guizhou populations differ from the Shandong population in webbing extent, so it seems that additional work is needed.
