Running log of additions and changes, 2021

I attempt to summarize here what work I have done on ASW 6.1 starting 1 January 2021. (Previous logs of additions and changes are here.) This log does not include error corrections and the like and I cannot promise that there will not be errors of omission or commission inasmuch as this log is not being constructed automatically and focuses on publications rather than on particular changes and fixes.

23 January 2021: Added a comment under Cycloramphus (Cycloramphidae), noting the publication of Bueno, Gatto, Gazolla, Leivas, Struett, Moura, and Bruschi, 2021, PLoS One, 16(1: e0245128): 1–20, employed 5S rDNA analysis to illustrate chromosome evolution within the genus. 

23 January 2021: Modified the range statement and added a comment under Pulchrana guttmani, noting the publication of Pitogo and Saavedra, 2021, Herpetol. Notes, 14: 163–167, who reported the species (first collection in 28 years) from the northern slope of the Busa Mountain Range, southern Mindanao, Philippines. 

22 January 2021: Added comments where relevant, noting the publication of Mateo, Géniez, and Pether, 2013, Basic & Appl. Herpetol., 27: 51–83, who provided range maps for amphibians, comments on the range and population status in Algeria.

22 January 2021: Added comments where relevant noting the publication of Ibrahim, 2013, Basic & Appl. Herpetol., 27: 107–117, who commented on the range and population status of Egyptian species of amphibians.

22 January 2021: Added a comment under Polypedates (Rhacophoridae), noting the publication of Yuan, Deng, Jiang, Klaus, Orlov, Yang, and Li, 2021, Zool. Res., Kunming, 42: 116–123, who reported on molecular phylogenetics of the species within the genus with a special focus on biogeography. 

22 January 2021: Added a comment under Hoplobatrachus tigerinus (Dicroglossidae), noting the publication of Mohanty, Crottini, Garcia, and Measey, 2021, Biol. Invasions, 23: 69–81, reported on a risk analysis for invasion of this species worldwide.          

21 January 2021: Added a comment under Bufotes turanensis (Bufonidae), noting the publication of Jablonski, Bemmel, and Masroor, 2021, Herpetol. Notes, 14: 63–66, who reported the species from Kunduz Province, northeastern Afghanistan. 

21 January 2021: Added a comment under Pithecopus azureus (Phyllomedusidae), noting the publication of Silva, Carvalho-e-Silva, Ribeiro, Machado, and Couto, 2021, Herpetol. Notes, 14: 121–123, who discussed the range in Piauí, northeastern Brazil, and discussed and mapped the occurrences in that state.  

21 January 2021: Added a comment under Philoria kundagungan (Limnodynastidae), noting the publication of Bolitho, Rowley, Hines, and Newell, 2021, Aust. J. Zool., 67: 231–240, who reported on occupancy modelling, noting a very fragmented distribution of this species. 

20 January 2021: Added a comment under Lithodytes lineatus (Leptodactylidae), noting the publication of Dias-Souza, Figueiredo, Tavares-Pinheiro, and Costa-Campos, 2021, Check List, 17: 95–101, who provided a record from Amapá, Brazil, and provided an updated range map. 

19 January 2021: Added a comment under Microhyla heymonsi (Microhylidae), noting the publication of Akbari, Hamidy, Maryanto, Munir, and Smith, 2021, J. Physics Conf. Ser., 1725 (012063): 1–7, reported on molecular phylogeography employing the mt 16S rRNA gene.

14 January 2021: Added the new microhyline genus Nanohyla (Microhylidae), partitioned out of Microhyla by Gorin, Scherz, Korost, and Poyarkov, 2021, Zoosyst. Evol., 97: 21–54, including the former species of MicrohylaNanohyla annamensis, Nanohyla annectens, Nanohyla arboricola, Nanohyla hongiaoensis, Nanohyla marmorata, Nanohyla nanapollexa, Nanohyla petrigena, Nanohyla perparva, and Nanohyla pulchella

10 January 2021: Added six new species of the Adenomera heyeri clade from the Brazilian Amazonia: Adenomera amicorum, Adenomera aurantiaca, Adenomera gridipappi, Adenomera inopinata, Adenomera kayapo, and Adenomera tapajonica

9 January 2021: Added a comment under Gymnophiona noting the publication of Santos, Laurin, and Zaher, 2020, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 131: 737–755, who reviewed the fossil record of caecilians and its use to calibrate molecular time-trees. 

8 January 2021: Added a comment under Lithodytes lineatus (Leptodactylidae), noting the publication of Fermiano, Silva-Alves, Neves, Silva, Santos, and Silva, 2021, Check List, 17: 1–17, who reported on new records in Mato Grosso, Brazil, and discussed habitat. 

8 January 2021: Added a comment under Boana noting the phylogenetic analysis and revision of the Boana pulchella group by Faivovich, Pinheiro, Lyra, Pereyra, Baldo, Muñoz-Saravia, Reichle, Brandão, Giaretta, Thomé, Chaparro, Baêta, Widholzer, Baldo, Lehr, Wheeler, Garcia, and Haddad, 2021, Mol. 6 January 2021: Added Nyctimystes lubisi (Pelodryadidae), named (as Litoria lubisi) by Oliver, Günther, Tjaturadi, and Richards, 2021, Zootaxa, 4903: 117–126, from 10 km south of Timika town, Papua Province, Indonesia (4.662°S, 136.897°E; 20 m a.s.l.).

5 January 2021: Added Scinax tropicalia (Hylidae), named by Novaes-e-Fagundes, Araujo-Vieira, Entiauspe, Roberto, Orrico, Solé, Haddad, and Loebmann, 2021, Zootaxa, 4903: 1–41, Bahia and Ceará, northeastern Brazil. 

5 January 2021: Added Amazops amazops (Rhinatrematidae), a new genus and species of caecilians, named by Wilkinson, Reynolds, and Jacobs, 2021, Herpetol. J., 31: 27–34, from "Finca Virgen La Dolores, at km 57 sign on Hollin–Loreto Road (E20), Orellana, Ecuador, c. 0 degrees 43′ 50″ South and 77 degrees 30′ 25″ West, and c. 1000 m above sea level". 

5 January 2021: Resurrected Leptodactylus brevipes and Leptodactylus intermedius (Leptodactylidae) from the synonymy of Leptodactylus petersii, following the revision of Gazoni, Lyra, Ron, Strüssmann, Baldo, Narimatsu, Pansonato, Schneider, Giaretta, Haddad, Parise-Maltempi, and Carvalho, 2021, Zool. Anz., 290: 117–134, who provided information on calls, morphology, larval morphology, and molecular markers for the Leptodactylus melanonotus group. 

4 January 2021: Added a comment under Centrolene savagei (Centrolenidae) noting the publication of Prado-Sañudo, Giraldo, and Bolívar-García, 2020, Bol. Cient., Univ. Caldas, Colombia, 24: 116–124, who reported on population status in the Western and Central Andes of Colombia.

4 January 2021: Added Leptobrachella bashaensis (Megophryidae), named by Lyu, Dai, Wei, He, Yuan, Shi, Zhou, Ran, Kuang, Guo, Wei, and Yuan, 2020, ZooKeys, 1008: 139–157, from Basha Nature Reserve, Congjiang, Guizhou Province, China

3 January 2021: Modified the range of Sphaerotheca pashchima (Dicroglossidae), referencing the publication of Dandekar, Sulakhe, and Padhye, 2020, Reptiles & Amphibians, 27: 390–396, who provided numbers of range extensions and a dot map confirmed by molecular assay.
