Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Capensibufo rosei by Grandison, 1980, Bull. Brit. Mus. (Nat. Hist.), Zool., 39: 294, where it had been placed by Poynton, 1964, Ann. Natal Mus., 17: 44. Tandy and Keith, 1972, in Blair (ed.), Evol. Genus Bufo: 158, suggested membership (as Bufo tradouwi) in the Bufo angusticeps group, as did Poynton, 1964, Ann. Natal Mus., 17: 44-45. Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 102-103, Boycott, 2004, in Minter et al. (eds.), Atlas Frogs S. Afr. Lesotho and Swaziland: 90-91, and Du Preez and Carruthers, 2009, Compl. Guide Frogs S. Afr.: 188-189 provided accounts. Tolley, De Villiers, Cherry, and Measey, 2010, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 100: 822-834, suggested that this name covers a species complex. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 142, reported on comparative tadpole morphology. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 86–87, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
