Comment

Narvaes and Rodrigues, 2009, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 40: 1–73, revised the Rhinella granulosa group, provided an account for this species, and noted hybridization with Rhinella major in Mato Grosso, Brazil, and with Rhinella granulosa in Bahia, Brazil. Jansen, Bloch, Schulze, and Pfenninger, 2011, Zool. Scripta, 40: 567–583, suggested that this nominal species may include at least one other cryptic species, although this was discussed and rejected by Pereyra, Baldo, Blotto, Iglesias, Thomé, Haddad, Barrio-Amorós, Ibáñez D., and Faivovich, 2016, Cladistics, 32: 45–46. Morais, Bastos, Annunziata, Kokubum, and Maciel, 2012, Zootaxa, 3265: 66–68, reported on the advertisement call. Schulze, Jansen, and Köhler, 2015, Zootaxa, 4016: 14–16, characterized the larva. Simon, Machado, and Marroig, 2016, Proc. R. Soc. London, Ser. B, Biol. Sci., 283 (20161783): 1–10, reported on skull evolution within the Rhinella granulosa group and provided a dot map.  Neves, Yves, Pereira Silva, Alves, Vasques, Coelho, and Silva, 2019, Herpetozoa, Wien, 32: 113–123, provided a record for western Minas Gerais, Brazil. Grosso, Pereyra, Vera Candioti, Maciel, and Baldo, 2020, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 15: 75–84, described larval morphology of this and close relatives. Vaz-Silva, Maciel, Nomura, Morais, Guerra Batista, Santos, Andrade, Oliveira, Brandão, and Bastos, 2020, Guia Ident. Anf. Goiás e Dist. Fed. Brasil Central: 24, provided an account for Goiás and the D.F. population, Brazil. In the Rhinella marina clade, Rhinella granulosa group of Pereyra, Blotto, Baldo, Chaparro, Ron, Elias-Costa, Iglesias, Venegas, Thomé, Ospina-Sarria, Maciel, Rada, Kolenc, Borteiro, Rivera-Correa, Rojas-Runjaic, Moravec, De la Riva, Wheeler, Castroviejo-Fisher, Grant, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2021, Bull.
