Bufo langanoensis Largen, Tandy, and Tandy, 1978, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Suppl., 10: 4. Holotype: BMNH 1975.1192, by original designation. Type locality: "Northwest shore of Lake Langano, Shoa Province, Ethiopia (07° 38′ N 38° 42′ E, altitude 1585 m)".

Distribution

Central and northern Rift Valley of Ethiopia, associated with permanent water in dry savanna and semidesert at 700–1600 m elevation; likely to be eventually found in Eritrea and Somalia.

In the Bufo blanfordii group; see discussion by Tandy and Feener, 1985, in Schuchmann (ed.), Proc. Internatl. Symp Afr. Vert.: 563-572. Largen, 2001, Tropical Zool., 14: 319-320, commented on habitat and distribution and noted that the populations from Awash National Park might represent a distinct species.
