Comment

Considered a synonym of Allobates brunneus (as Prostherapis brunneus) by Cochran, 1955 "1954", Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 206: 44, and Cochran and Goin, 1970, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 288: 48, but considered distinct by Edwards, 1974, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 30: 2. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 84-85, provided a brief account and photo (as Colostethus beebei). Bourne, Collins, Holder, and McCarthy, 2001, J. Herpetol., 35: 272–281, reported on calls and reproductive behavior. See comment under Allobates juanii. Kok, MacCulloch, Gaucher, Poelman, Bourne, Lathrop, and Lenglet, 2006, Phyllomedusa, 5: 43-46, rediagnosed the species, discussed previous misidentifications, provided larval morphology and advertisement call, and revised the range. Kok and Kalamandeen, 2008, Intr. Taxon. Amph. Kaieteur Natl. Park: 116-117, provided a brief, but informative, account. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2009, R. Ontario Mus. Contrib. Sci., 4: 11, commented on specimens from the Ayanganna region, Guyana. Ernst, Rödel, and Arjoon, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 179-194, noted an undescribed species, previously confused with Anomaloglossus beebei, in central Guyana. Sánchez, 2013, Zootaxa, 3637: 569–591, provided information on larval morphology. See Cole, Townsend, Reynolds, MacCulloch, and Lathrop, 2013, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 125: 371-372, for brief account and records for Guyana. Taucce, Costa-Campos, Carvalho, and Michalski, 2022, Eur. J. Taxon., 836: 101, rejected records from Amapá, Brazil, as based on misidentifications. Pettitt, Bourne, and Bee, 2022, Ethology, 119: 244–256, reported on individual distinctiveness and variation in the advertisement call.
