Comment

Prior to the revision of Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299, this species was considered by Rivero, 1990 "1988", Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 48: 3-32, to be in his Colostethus fuliginosus group (Group VI). Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 86-86, provided a brief account and photo. Fouquet, Gilles, Vences, Marty, Blanc, and Gemmell, 2007, PLoS One, 10 (e1109): 1–10, provided molecular evidence that this is a species complex. See comment by Ouboter and Jairam, 2012, Amph. Suriname: 334, regarding range.  In the Anomaloglossus degranvillei group of Vacher, Kok, Rodrigues, Lima, Lorenzini, Martinez, Fallet, Courtois, Blanc, Gaucher, Dewynter, Jairam, Ouboter, Thébaud, and Fouquet, 2017, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 112: 158–173, who redelimited the range, excluding cryptic species. Fouquet, Vacher, Courtois, Villette, Reizine, Gaucher, Jairam, Ouboter, and Kok, 2018, Zootaxa, 4379: 13–14, rediagnosed the species.
