Comment

Santos, Coloma, Summers, Caldwell, Ree, and Cannatella, 2009, PLoS Biol., 7(3)e56: 44, rejected the recognition of this taxon on the basis of undisclosed evidence and assertion. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, confirmed the monophyly of this taxon. Guillory, Muell, Summers, and Brown, 2019, Diversity, 11 (126): 1–14, reported on the phylogenetics and evolutionary history of the family and suggested that Hyloxalinae is the sister taxon of Colostethinae.
