Hyla miyatai Vigle and Goberdhan-Vigle, 1990, Herpetologica, 46: 468. Holotype: MCZ A-111570, by original designation. Type locality: "along a stream that flows from the Garza Cocha lake (on the property of the Hosteria La Selva just north of the Rio Napo) into the Rio Napo, Ecuador, 260 m elevation".

Most similar to Hyla aperomea, Hyla minima, Hyla rossalleni, Hyla leali, and Hyla riveroi according to the original publication. In the Hyla minima group by implication. The Hyla minima group should be placed within the Hyla parviceps group according to Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 859.
