Comment

Dubois, 1981, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Suppl., 15: 265, noted that Tachycnemis Fitzinger, 1843, has priority over Megalixalus Günther, 1869 "1868". Considered to form the sister taxon of Heterixalus by Vences, Kosuch, Glaw, Böhme, and Veith, 2003, J. Zool. Syst. Evol. Res., 41: 205-213. See comments under Heterixalus and Hyperoliidae for more information on phylogenetics. Maddock, Day, Nussbaum, Wilkinson, and Gower, 2014, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 75: 194–201, provided molecular evidence for the sister taxon relationship of Heterixalus and Tachycnemis, this confirmed by Portik and Blackburn, 2016, Evolution, 70: 2017–2032.
