Known only from the type locality in the highlands of the Serra do Cipó, southern Espinhaço Range, State of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil.

Comment

A member of the Physalaemus signifer clade, Physalaemus deimaticus species group, most similar to Physalaemus rupestris, according to the original publication where the advertisement call, external morphology, molecular markers, and natural history were detailed. Eterovick, Souza, and Sazima, 2020, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 1–292, provided an account, life history information, and an identification scheme for the Serra de Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
