Scutiger ghunsa Khatiwada, Shu, Subedi, Wang, Ohler, Cannatella, Xie, and Jiang, 2019, Asian Herpetol. Res., 10: 145. Holotype: NHM-TU-17A-0116, by original designation. Type locality: "Ghunsa Khola (Khola means 'stream' in Nepali) Ghunsa, Taplejung district, Nepal, 27.66185°N, 87.93168 °E, elevation 3475 m a.s.l."

Known only from the type locality (Ghunsa, Taplejung district, Nepal, elevation 3475 m).

Comment

The sister taxon of a clade composed of Scutiger nepalensis and Scutiger sikkimensis according to the original publication. Khatiwada, Wang, Zhao, Xie, and Jiang, 2021, Asian Herpetol. Res., 12: 1–35, discussed the genetics of the species in Nepal.
