Comment

This taxon was not recognized subsequently by Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: 163, as distinct from Microhyla. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 100, regarded Microhyla erythropoda as a member of Micryletta; without discussion. Formerly in the Old World component of Microhylinae; Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 225, removed Micryletta from any subfamily pending resolution of its phylogenetic placement. van der Meijden, Vences, Hoegg, Boistel, Channing, and Meyer, 2007, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 44: 1017-1030, on the basis of DNA sequence data placed Micryletta as a member of Microhylinae (sensu stricto). Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, placed this genus as the sister taxon of a group composed of Chaperina, Glyphoglossus, Calluella, and Microhyla. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2:916-924, provided a key, accounts, and spot maps for Chinese species. Miller, Zug, Wogan, Lee, and Mulcahy, 2021, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 109: 245–257, discussed phylogeny and distribution, with a primary focus on Myanmar.
