Pseudophryne pengilleyi Wells and Wellington, 1985, Aust. J. Herpetol., Suppl. Ser., 1: 3. Holotype: AZM R250, by original designation; Iverson, Thomson, and Georges, 2001, J. Herpetol., 35, noted this is R. Well's personal collection and not available for examination. Type locality: "Coree Flats, Brindabella Range, New South Wales", Australia.

Distribution

Confined to the Brindabella Range of the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales, Australia, 960-1520 m elevation.

Comment

In the Pseudophryne corroboree complex, according to the original publication. Status as distinct from Pseudophryne corroboree confirmed by Osborne, Zentelis, and Lau, 1996, Aust. J. Zool., 44: 569–587. Morgan, Hunter, Pietsch, Osborne, and Keogh, 2008, Mol. Ecol., 17: 3448–3463, reported the populations of the Fiery Range, Southern Brindabella Range, and Northern Brindabella Range to be genetically distinct lineages. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 464.
