Afrana vandijki Visser and Channing, 1997, J. Afr. Zool., 111: 192. Holotype: TMP 80222, by original designation. Type locality: "Swartberg Pass . . . . The Swartberg Pass crosses the Swartberg mountain range at 1800 m (33° 21′ S, 22° 03′ E)."

High elevations of central Namibia south to the of the Swartberg, Hottentots-Holland, and Langeberg ranges in the southern part of Western Cape Province, as well as east and north to Lesotho and north towards the Zimbabwe frontier, South Africa, 350 to 1600 m elevation.
