Ghatixalus Biju, Roelants, and Bossuyt, 2008, Organisms Divers. Evol., 8: 269. Type species: Polypedates variabilis Jerdon, 1853, by original designation.

Western Ghats of South India. 

Comment

The sister taxon of Polypedates according to the original publication. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, suggested that Ghatixalus is the sister taxon of a taxon composed of Chiromantis, Feihyla, Taruga [which they considered part of Polypedates], Polypedates, and RhacophorusLi, Li, Klaus, Rao, Hillis, and Zhang, 2013, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 110: 34413446, suggested on the basis of a Bayesian analysis suggested that Ghatixalus is the sister taxon of Taruga + Polypedates.
