Good, Wurst, and Wake, 1987, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 32: 1–15, reported on interpopulational allozymic variation, and Good and Wake, 1992, Univ. California Publ. Zool., 126: 1–91, reported on systematics. Highton, 2000, in Bruce et al., Biol. Plethodontid Salamanders: 228, the data presented by Good and Wake and suggested that their estimate of the number of species was low.
